Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast in Arusha, you’ll set out across the Maasai steppe on your way to Tarangire National Park. Known for its towering baobab trees and vast elephant herds, Tarangire also teems with wildlife such as lions, giraffes, and numerous antelope species. Spend the afternoon on a thrilling game drive before heading to your lodge for a relaxing evening stay.

 

Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

Journey through the picturesque highlands of Karatu, pausing at a traditional Maasai village to experience the rich local culture. From there, continue onward to Serengeti National Park, entering through Naabi Hill Gate. Enjoy a game drive along the way as you head to your lodge in the Seronera region, the heart of the park renowned for its abundant wildlife.

 

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

Begin your day with an early start for a full-day safari across the Serengeti. Depending on the season, you may witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration unfolding on the plains. As you traverse the vast landscapes, watch for sightings of lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo. Pause midday to enjoy a picnic-style meal amidst the wilderness before continuing your adventure. As the sun dips toward the horizon, return to your lodge, bringing an unforgettable day of wildlife and breathtaking scenery to a close.

 

Day 4: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Highlands

Following your morning game drive, continue on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Your lodge awaits on the crater’s edge, offering sweeping views of the vast caldera below. It’s the perfect place to unwind and soak in the dramatic scenery ahead of tomorrow’s descent into the crater.

 

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater & Departure

After enjoying breakfast at your lodge, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a guided game drive in search of the Big Five, with excellent chances of encountering the rare black rhino. Following lunch, you’ll continue your journey — either heading to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your outbound flight or flying onward to Zanzibar for a relaxing beach getaway.

 

 

 

Best Time to Go on Safari

  • June to October (Dry Season):

    • Best overall wildlife viewing across East and Southern Africa.

    • Animals gather around rivers and waterholes, making sightings easier.

    • Ideal time for the Great Migration river crossings in the Serengeti and Maasai Mara (July–October).

  • December to March:

    • Great time for calving season in the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains.

    • Fewer crowds and lush green landscapes.

    • Excellent for birdwatching with migratory species present.

  • April to May (Long Rains):

    • Some camps close due to heavy rains and muddy roads.

    • Cheaper prices and fewer tourists.

    • Beautiful, dramatic skies for photography, though game viewing can be harder.
