Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our professional guide who will brief you through your travel plan about your 3 days safari in Rwanda. From here he will take you to an organized restaurant for simple refreshments and break fast.

After having breakfast, embark on a city tour covering areas such as the Kimironko market, Belgium peace makers and the Kigali genocide memorial centre. This place acts as a replica about the massive genocide war that happened in 1994 where thousands of people lost their lives.

After this visit, you will embark on the 2 hours journey to the Volcanoes national park.  Check in at the lodge, dinner and overnight stay.

Meal plan:  Dinner &breakfast.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and visiting Ibwiwachu cultural village.

On the second day of the 3-day Rwanda Gorilla tour, you will have a hearty breakfast before heading to the park headquarters (Kinigi) for a morning briefing. The briefing covers the perfect conduct on how to behave well with the gorillas in their natural habitat.

After the briefing ready with your hiking gears and water, you will be divided into groups of eight and allocated to a certain gorilla family. You will enter the dense rainforest of Volcanoes national park under the guidance of qualified game guides and rangers in order to locate the gorillas.

You will trek for about 3 to 4 hours depending on the location of the gorillas hours and enjoy the one-hour encounter with the gorillas. Make observations, have fleshless photo shoots, and then descend back to the briefing point. After this activity return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

A visit to Ibyiwachu cultural village gives you an opportunity to gain additional knowledge about the deep cultures of the Rwandan people and more knowledge about their history.

Here you will experience their culture through traditional songs, dances, and stories of their past.

Return to your lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner and a night stay.

Day 3:  Transfer to Kigali International Airport.

Best Time to Go on Safari

  • June to October (Dry Season):

    • Best overall wildlife viewing across East and Southern Africa.

    • Animals gather around rivers and waterholes, making sightings easier.

    • Ideal time for the Great Migration river crossings in the Serengeti and Maasai Mara (July–October).

  • December to March:

    • Great time for calving season in the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains.

    • Fewer crowds and lush green landscapes.

    • Excellent for birdwatching with migratory species present.

  • April to May (Long Rains):

    • Some camps close due to heavy rains and muddy roads.

    • Cheaper prices and fewer tourists.

    • Beautiful, dramatic skies for photography, though game viewing can be harder.
