The 10 day Uganda gorilla trekking and wildlife safari is an exceptional safari that leads you in to the country’s most prominent national parks to discover their breathking natural wonders.  The safari is a journey that allows you to see breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural experiences.

The trip starts from Uganda’s largest national park where you will enjoy incredible game drives and a scenic boat cruise along the 7-meter gorge, where the Nile crashes itself.  From here you will head to south in to the primate capital of the world (Kibale Forest) for intimate chimpanzee trekking experiences and an interesting nature walk with in Bigodi Wetlands. The nature walk will help you see a variety of birds and monkey species.

From Kibale you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park a medley of wonders. In Queen you will do game drives where you will see lions, elephants, and hippos along the Kasenyi plains and then a boat cruise along the 32-metre natural channel (Kazinga Channel) that links lake George and Edward. Your trip proceeds   into the remote Ishasha sector, home to tree-climbing lions, before crossing to the mystical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest a home to half number of the total gorillas species in the whole world.  You will be able to do the life-changing gorilla trekking experience and a also a cultural encounter with the Batwa.

The trip ends with wildlife encounters in Lake Mburo National Park and a cultural visit to the Rwenjeru community camp site , before returning to Kampala or Entebbe. This safari offers dazzling insights of nature, wildlife, and culture an authentic African journey you’ll never forget.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park with Rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After taking your breakfast in the morning, you will depart for Murchison Falls National Park, which is Uganda’s biggest park, famously known worldwide for its impressive waterfalls. The journey is approximately a 6 to 7-hour drive from Kampala to Murchison Falls np with a stopover at Ziwa for rhino tracking. After Rhino tracking, you will then have lunch en route to Murchison Falls Park, arriving in the evening, check in, relaxation, and dinner. You will spend a night at your preferred lodging.

Day 2: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, your guide will be ready to take you to the jungle in search of wildlife and bird species. The game drive exposes you to sightings of wildlife species like Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Giraffes, Kobs, Buffaloes, baboons, and many more.

After the game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and refreshments.  From here, proceed with a boat cruise to the bottom of the mighty Murchison Falls with spectacular views and a view of several aquatic species on the river banks.

Day 3:  Visit the top of the falls and transfer to Kibale National Park.

Having had breakfast at your lodge in the morning, prepare to visit the top of the falls. From here, you will transfer to Kibale National Park as you drive through the Albertian escarpment of the East African rift valley. Through the journey, you will have dynamic views of Lake Albert, the mountains of the moon. En route to lunch, then proceed with your journey to Kibale. Upon reaching check-in at the lodge, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and evening nature walk in Bigodi.

Very early in the morning, after having breakfast fast your guide will drive you up to Kanyanchu visitors center for a briefing on your chimp trekking experience. The briefing gives you a highlight of dos and don’ts to follow while in the forest. While on your experience, a variety of primates such as Colobus monkeys, grey-checked mangabey, red Colobus, blue monkeys, Olive baboons, and different bird species that call Kibale home. You will have lunch after the trek do a nature walk in Bigodi swamp. Here you will see a variety of bird and animal species.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen with an evening game drive

As you watch the sun rise in the wild. Wake up and take your breakfast, then depart with your guide to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Uganda’s second largest park).  You will arrive at your lodge, enjoy lunch, then embark on an evening game drive in the park where you will explore more views of plant species and animal species such as Lions, Elephants, Topis, Leopards, Bushbucks, Cape Buffaloes, Defassa Waterbucks, Giant Forest Hogs, and Uganda Kobs.

After the game drive, drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Game Drive and Boat Cruise.

Start with a cup of coffee to warm up before going on the wildlife drive on the Kasenyi plains. You will be amazed at how the early risers interact with each other in the wild as you see many species that call this place home, including Cape buffaloes, lions, elephants, Uganda Kob, topi, Defassa waterbuck, and bushbucks. After that, you will return to the lodge with your lunch ready to eat, change, and depart for the two-hour boat ride down the Kazinga Channel, which offers plenty of

sights to view such as hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, various bird species such as red chest, papyrus Gonolek, pink backed pelicans, malachite kingfishers, yellow crown, water thick-knee, yellow-billed stork, shoe bill stock. Thereafter, head back to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 7:  Game drives in Ishasha and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Grab a cup of tea in the morning, then do a morning game rive with in the Ishasha sector. This sector of Queen Elizabeth is perfect for game drive due to its presence of the tree-climbing lions and other animal species. You will later proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in th late evening.

Check in at your lodge, dinne,r and overnight stay.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Walk.

Start the day with a delicious breakfast at the lodge in the morning before heading to the park headquarters. Upon arrival at the briefing point, you will be briefed on the perfect conduct on how to behave with the gorillas within their natural habitat. From here, ready with your hiking gear, water, join in group of 8 people and hike in the jungle.

Meeting these gentle giant,s only one hour is offered for interaction with you to these gorillas.

Once you find them, you will spend one hour with them taking pictures, and later you will return to the starting point, meet your guide drive back to your lodge for lunch.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and have an evening game drive.

Kick start the day with your morning meals, then proceed from Bwindi np to Lake Mburo National Park.  Lunch will be taken at your lodge, then in the late evening, prepare to do a game drive. A game drive allows see a variety of animals such as zebras, impalas, buffalo, giraffes, and many more.

Day 10: Visit Rwenjeru community camp site and drive back to Kampala or Entebbe

Early morning, take a breakfast, then drive southwestwards towards Mbarara town to visit Rwenjeru Community Campsite, where you will be welcomed by the local community, who are mainly cattle keepers in the region. They will take you through what they do daily, including cattle raising, cattle watering, milking, and so much more.

They will tell you their famous stories about pastoralism and the famous Ankole long-horned cattle. After that, you will drive to Igongo Cultural Center, popularly referred to as Igongo Cultural Museum, for lunch, where traditional dishes are served. After you have lunch, you will prepare to drive back to Entebbe for your flight back home.

Best Time to Go on Safari

  • June to October (Dry Season):

    • Best overall wildlife viewing across East and Southern Africa.

    • Animals gather around rivers and waterholes, making sightings easier.

    • Ideal time for the Great Migration river crossings in the Serengeti and Maasai Mara (July–October).

  • December to March:

    • Great time for calving season in the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains.

    • Fewer crowds and lush green landscapes.

    • Excellent for birdwatching with migratory species present.

  • April to May (Long Rains):

    • Some camps close due to heavy rains and muddy roads.

    • Cheaper prices and fewer tourists.

    • Beautiful, dramatic skies for photography, though game viewing can be harder.


What to Pack for a Safari

  • Clothing

    • Neutral-colored, lightweight clothing (khaki, beige, green—avoid bright colors and dark blue/black which attract insects).

    • Long-sleeved shirts and trousers for sun protection and cooler evenings.

    • A warm fleece or jacket for chilly mornings and nights.

    • Comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots.

    • A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
