The trip starts with a city tour in Kigali then later transfer to the hotel. Day 2 you will drive to Rwanda’s savannah park Akagera mainly to meet up with Wildlife including the big 5 and plenty of bird species. From here, you will drive to Nyungwe national park to trek the chimpanzees. Day 7 you will drive to Volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking, spend the magical encounter with the gorillas then end with a boat cruise around Lake Kivu.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport, a short Kigali city tour, and transfer to the hotel.
After you landing at the airport, our expert guide will greet you and walk you through the itinerary for your 6-day safari with Rwanda’s gorillas and chimp safari, you will begin with a city tour in Kigali, stopping at important sites such the Genocide Memorial, Kings Palace, and Kimironko Market. Have lunch in Kigali after your city tour, and then head to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Drive to Akagera National Park and have an evening game drive.
Following breakfast in Kigali, you will spend around 2 and 30 hours traveling to Akagera National Park. You arrive in time for lunch, have a meal, relax, and then go on a game drive later in the day. In the afternoon, you have a game drive across the plains of the Akagera savannah. Among the animals on display are the big five game buffaloes, rhinos, elephants, lions, and leopards. Other wildlife species include giraffes, zebras, hyenas, cape bushbuck, Topis, oribis, roan antelopes, duikers, impala, cape eland, and many more. In the evening, you will return to your hotel or lodge you have reserved to relax, have dinner, and spend the night there.

Day 3: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise around Lake Ihema.
Early morning take your hearty breakfast then drive with your guide to embark on game drive along the northern circuit of the park. Akagera national park is the only perfect place for game drives in Rwanda since its a home to the big 5 animals. You will view a variety of animas such as elephants rhinos, giraffes, tree limbing lions, and many more.
After enjoying your game drive, you will drive back to your hotel for lunch then in the late evening prepare to do a boat cruise. Do a boat cruise along lake Ihema where you will see plenty of animals including crocodiles, hippos, and various several bird species. Examples of bird species to views see are the shoebill storks, herons, jacanas, ibis, gonolek among others.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
You will have breakfast at leisure and then be transferred to Nyungwe national park. The drive lasts about 4-5 hours from Kigali city to Nyungwe Forest. Upon arrival, check into your lodge, have lunch, and relax in the evening.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park.
After a delicious breakfast at the lodge in the morning, you will embark on an exciting drive to the Nyungwe National Park Headquarters (Uwinka), where you will begin your journey into the native forest in pursuit of the remarkable chimpanzees. This hike offers you the chance to enter a bizarre but exclusive area of the rainforest where you can hear the live calls of vibrant birds, hear the chattering of monkeys, spend an hour with chimpanzees, snap pictures, and watch them go about their daily lives. After your chimpanzee trekking experience, you will proceed to eat lunch at the lodge and then un wind as you prepare for tomorrow.

Day 6: Transfer from Nyungwe Forest to Volcanoes National Park.
Morning.
After breakfast, head north for a picturesque journey to Volcanoes National Park, saying goodbye to Nyungwe Forest. The journey provides breathtaking views of Rwanda’s lush hills and Lake Kivu.
Evening
Arrival at the lodge in the evening.
Get dinner and unwind at your lodge close to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and transfer to Lake Kivu.
Morning: Gorilla Trekking
very early in the morning, you will depart with your guide to the parks head quarters (Kinigi) for a briefing. During the briefing, park rangers highlight trekkers on the perfect conduct on how to behave with these gentle giants while in their natural habitat.
Trekking experience: You will join a group of 8 people ready with your hiking gears and go to the jungle passing via dense forests. Upon meeting up with these great apes only one hour is offered for interaction. Spend a magical hour with these gentle giants taking flashless photos as well as viewing these gorillas go about their daily chores (eating, jumping, breastfeeding)
Afternoon: Rest at Lodge
Return to the lodge for lunch and relax for the rest of the day after this thrilling and unforgettable experience.

Day 8: Boat cruise and return to Kigali International Airport for a departure flight.
Morning
Grab a cup of tea and your tasty breakfast from your lodging before going on a boat cruise at Lake kivu. A boat cruise on Lake Kivu offers stunning views of lush green hills, volcanic mountains, and tranquil islands. You can decide to visit a particular island such as Napoleon to see multiple of fruits bats and other bird species.
Afternoon
You will enjoy lunch at your lodge, then drive with your guide to Kigali international airport for your flight back home. Bid fare well to your guide. Safe travels.
